OPErA INDIA

Our Story

Founded in 2013 in the United Kingdom, Opera India has grown into a distinct performance collective and training platform, recognised within international singer communities for its focused and cross-cultural approach to voice.

At its core, Opera India brings together Eastern and Western classical traditions, creating a space where diverse vocal lineages can be explored, refined, and presented with artistic integrity.

The work has been presented across a range of respected platforms, including appearances at the British Council and the Goethe-Institut, as well as features on the BBC network in the UK and Kappa TV. One of its early international performances in the UK was in collaboration with the WaterAid foundation.

Alongside these, Opera India has been involved in numerous charitable concerts and independent productions across different contexts and geographies. Some engagements have been part of ongoing collaborations, while others have been curated as one-time featured performances.

A significant aspect of the initiative lies in artist development. Over 45 singers have been featured through Opera India Academy’s productions, with opportunities to perform and engage with audiences across international platforms.

Today, Opera India continues to function as both a performance-led initiative and a pedagogical space, shaping voices that move fluidly across traditions while remaining rooted in strong technical and artistic foundations.
