Research-informed teaching and performance in voice and music across diverse cultural and academic contexts worldwide.

The Approach

The teaching methodology integrates voice as culture, body, and practice within the lesson space. We begin the work by listening to the student’s repertoire, language, and musical background before introducing technical adjustments.

Each voice is approached through language, repertoire, and musical background. Technical guidance responds to these conditions rather than imposing a fixed stylistic model.

Context

Coordinated Technique

Exercises are used to clarify breath, resonance, and coordination in ways that remain transferable across traditions, whether working in Indian, Western, or operatic settings.

Learning Through Awareness

Singers are guided to develop perceptual awareness, enabling them to recognise and refine their own vocal responses beyond the lesson.

"Training with Abinav's VoiceLab over the past eight years has transformed not just my singing, but my entire relationship with the voice. Coming from a Hindustani background, I was initially curious about how Western Classical techniques could fit into my practice. What I discovered was a completely new level of vocal awareness, an understanding of breath, resonance, and balance that has deepened my artistry and stamina."

“I joined VoiceLab to explore singing as a creative break from my corporate routine, but it ended up transforming the way I communicate. Understanding my voice through singing helped me project confidence, clarity, and intent in meetings and presentations. The experience was so powerful that we invited VoiceLab to conduct workshops at our organisation, helping teams strengthen vocal presence, presentation skills, and authentic communication.”

“With my training in opera, I wanted to explore Indian music without losing my natural resonance and vocal line. Abinav’s approach helped me understand how the two systems relate and differ, how meend connects to legato, and how placement and resonance shift between styles. His teaching made the transition feel intuitive, and for the first time, my Indian singing began to sound authentic while still feeling completely natural to my instrument.”
